Workshop Terms & Conditions
Urban Nature Action CIC Workshop Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 12/08/2026
These terms apply to workshops organised by Urban Nature Action CIC unless different terms are clearly stated for a particular activity.
1. Booking
Completing a Register My Interest, booking enquiry or contact form does not automatically reserve or confirm a workshop place.
We will contact you with information about availability and payment.
Your place is confirmed when:
Urban Nature Action CIC has accepted your booking; and
the required payment has been received.
Please do not assume that a place has been reserved until you receive confirmation from us.
2. Payment
Workshop fees must normally be paid by bank transfer using the payment details provided by Urban Nature Action CIC.
Any payment deadline will be provided when we offer you a place.
If payment is not received by the stated deadline, we may offer the place to somebody else.
3. Workshop price
The price advertised or quoted for the workshop will be the price payable unless an obvious pricing error has occurred.
We will tell you what is included before you book.
4. Age requirements
Our initial public practical workshops are for adults aged 18 and over, unless an individual activity is clearly advertised otherwise.
Future workshops for children, young people or families may have different booking and supervision arrangements.
5. Minimum booking numbers
Some workshops require a minimum number of paid participants in order to cover the cost of running the session.
The required number may vary depending on factors such as venue hire and other workshop costs.
If there are insufficient bookings, Urban Nature Action CIC may cancel or reschedule the workshop.
If we do this, you will be offered:
a full refund, or
the option to transfer your payment to an alternative available date.
We recommend avoiding significant non-refundable travel or accommodation costs connected with a workshop unless you are prepared to bear those costs if circumstances change.
6. Cancelling your place
If you cancel 14 calendar days or more before the workshop, you will receive a full refund of the workshop fee.
If you cancel less than 14 calendar days before the workshop, we will normally be unable to provide a refund.
However, if we are able to refill your place, or where circumstances mean that retaining the full payment would not be appropriate, we will consider whether a full or partial refund can be provided.
Nothing in these terms affects your statutory consumer rights.
Consumer law does not allow businesses simply to rely on excessive or unfair cancellation provisions because they appear in a contract.
For services related to leisure activities provided on a specific date or period, the usual statutory cooling-off cancellation right may not apply under Regulation 28 of the Consumer Contracts Regulations.
7. Transfers and substitutions
Up to 48 hours before the workshop, you may contact us to request:
transfer to another available workshop; or
transfer of your place to another eligible participant.
Transfers are subject to availability and any relevant age, safety or participation requirements.
Please contact us rather than arranging an informal substitution without telling us, so that our booking and emergency information remains accurate.
8. Non-attendance
If you do not attend the workshop and have not cancelled or transferred your place in accordance with these terms, a refund will not normally be available.
9. If we cancel
If Urban Nature Action CIC cancels a workshop, you will be offered:
a full refund of the workshop fee; or
transfer to another available workshop.
We will aim to give as much notice as reasonably possible.
10. If we postpone or reschedule
If we change the workshop to another date, you may choose:
to attend the new date;
to transfer to another suitable available workshop; or
to receive a full refund of the workshop fee.
11. Changes outside our reasonable control
Occasionally an activity may need to be changed, postponed or cancelled because of circumstances outside our reasonable control.
These may include severe weather, venue closure, illness, emergency situations or safety concerns.
Where we cancel or reschedule the workshop, the refund and transfer arrangements above will apply to the workshop fee.
12. Practical workshop safety
Participants must follow reasonable safety instructions provided by Urban Nature Action CIC and the venue.
For our nest-box building workshops:
participants must wear closed-toe footwear;
timber will be pre-cut and pre-drilled;
participants will use manual hand tools;
power tools will not be used by participants during the workshop; and
participants must follow the safety demonstration and instructions provided.
We may stop a participant from carrying out an activity if their actions create a significant safety risk to themselves or others.
13. Accessibility and reasonable adjustments
We want our activities to be as accessible as reasonably possible.
If you require an adjustment to help you participate, please contact us before the workshop where possible.
You do not normally need to disclose a diagnosis. Telling us what would help you participate is usually sufficient.
Please see our Accessibility Statement for more information.
14. Carers and support workers
Where a carer, personal assistant or support worker needs to attend solely to support a participant, we will normally seek not to charge them an additional participation fee where we control the pricing.
Please contact us before booking so appropriate arrangements can be made.
15. Participant conduct
Participants must treat:
other participants;
CIC directors and volunteers;
venue staff; and
members of the public
with reasonable respect.
Seriously abusive, threatening, discriminatory or unsafe behaviour may result in somebody being asked to leave the activity.
A refund will not normally be provided where somebody is removed because of serious misconduct.
16. Personal belongings
Please take reasonable care of your personal property.
Urban Nature Action CIC cannot accept responsibility for loss or damage to personal belongings except where responsibility arises under applicable law.
17. Liability
Nothing in these terms excludes or restricts any liability that cannot legally be excluded or restricted, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights.
18. Privacy
Personal information provided during booking will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
